Saturday Style File – Selphie Schoolyard Separates

Sometimes, it’s nice to feel like you’re in elementary school again, but without the omnipresent fear of getting detention, being picked last in gym or bullied by the Russian mascara mafia after school (full disclosure: none of the above ever happened to me. I was a dutiful, straight-A-minus student, DUH).

So when you feel the need to feel like a schoolgirl again, it’s nice to know there´s a way to do so without looking like an overgrown kid. The key is to add textured tights and a chunky knit sweater, basically, a spin on the traditional school-uniform silhouette. Oh, and keep the button-down crisply white, please. That´s a school rule you never break.

My makeup look was partly inspired by Selphie Tilmitt from FF8 (she’s my favorite female character from that game… eat my dust, Rinoa!) since my hair was doing its own thing that morning. Instead of fighting it, I decided to go with it, and while I might look a tad cliché-anime, at least I can pull it off because I’m Asian. Ha!

Fashion Friday: Furry Yeti Sweater + Makeup Tutorial

Fashion Friday: Furry Yeti Sweater + Vegan Makeup Tutorial

Maybe emulating a yeti in your day-to-day behavior isn’t particularly seemly, but in your wardrobe, it’s totes ok. This season, looking like a super-furry teddy bear is all types of cute, on-trend and visually interesting. For this outfit, I decided to mix monochromatic basics to counteract the texture and girlish color of my sweater. My makeup was […]

Compassionate Vegan Winter Coats for any Occasion

People often ask me why I don’t wear wool. They say things like “but wool doesn’t hurt the animal!” or “aren’t sheep supposed to be sheared?” Little do they know that it goes much deeper than just shaving a sheep. The wool industry is a billion-dollar business that operates on the basis of using animals purely for […]

Fashion File – Modern Flamenco

Vegan Chao Fashion

For me, fashion isn’t always about dressing to the nines… but maybe coming reaal close to it. My inspiration for this outfit was a take on a traditional flamenco dancer… just remixed for the office. Fashion Friday: Summer Pastels

Fashion vegan pastels summer

Pastels can be a hard outfit to pull off: you don’t want to look to easter-y, but once you can get it right, it looks super-chic and girly. Plus, you’ll be easy to spot in a sea of blacks and blues! I’ve found that the easiest way to wear pastels is to mix textures (something […]
